Leather Ink Remover will remove all ink stains from your precious leather surfaces. The leather ink remover contains a mild blend of cleaning agents to remove stubborn stains easily, whilst causing little or no colour loss to the leather.
Our Ink Remover is specifically formulated to tackle ink stains on leather. If you have another type of stain, such as dye transfer from clothes, we recommend using our Leather Stain Remover to remove these stains.
What If It Doesn’t Work?
Leather is treated with a protective lacquer that holds the ink stain on the surface allowing the Leather Ink Remover Kit to remove it. However, over the years, and with day-to-day use, this protective layer can wear off causing ink stains to become more stubborn, and the Ink Remover less successful.
Do not worry though, in these instances we recommend that instead of trying to remove the ink stain, you should cover it up. To do this, you would use the Complete Leather Repair Kit. This product comes in a range of colours to successfully hide ink stains and other marks on leather.
If you don’t want to do that and the product doesn’t work; we’ll give you a 100% refund. |
That’s a full refund, not just for the cost of the product, but for your shipping expense too!
Leather Ink Remover Kit is Suitable For
Leather Ink Remover can be used on all different articles of leather, from furniture and car interior to clothes, shoes and handbags. It works on all colours of leather and all different grain types, always removing ink stains safely.
Aniline and semi-aniline leather
Pigmented leather/topcoat leather
Oil and wax pull-up leather
Two-tone and mottled leather
Rub-off/antique finished leather
Bi-cast leather
Vinyl and faux leather, including bonded leather
Suede and Nubuck
Important: Most modern leather surfaces have a manufactured finish that is easily cleaned. However, some leather is treated in a different way and is prone to staining. These leathers are known as aniline and pull-up style leathers. If you have an ink stain on these types of leather, you should use our Leather Degreaser to extract it.
Care should be taken when using the Leather Ink Remover on bi-cast, two-tone or rub-off leathers as this could remove the top coat colour.
Leather Ink Remover Kit Coverage and Shelf Life
The Leather Ink Remover Kit contains enough product to remove multiple ink stains from leather. If the ink stain is fresh or on relatively new leather then the kit has enough ink removal liquid to remove a stain about 60cm in length. If the stain or leather is old, then you can expect the ink stain to be more stubborn, in this case the kit will remove about 30cm of ink staining.
Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Store between 8°C and 30°C.
Once opened, use within 1 year.
Step 1.Never apply directly to the leather, always apply drops onto the cotton buds provided. Use the cotton bud and Ink Remover solution to dab or stroke the stain gently – do not rub hard. As soon as you see ink on the cotton bud, swap to another cotton bud to prevent ink being returned to the leather. Never reuse a cotton bud. If you see the leather colour appearing on the bud, stop and allow the leather to dry, then go back and inspect the results. |

Step 2.If there is still ink on the leather re-apply the ink remover, then wait again and come back to inspect. After removing the initial stain there may be a residual ink ‘cloud’ mark, simply add some Ink Remover to a sponge and gently clean the area, then wipe away residue with a clean cloth. After completely removing the stain, apply the protection cream to the surface then buff with the cloth provided to finish. |
Is Leather Ink remover suitable for use on all of my leather items?
Yes, as long as your items are made of any of the most common types of leather including: pigmented/top coat, semi-aniline, bi-cast, two-tone, mottled or antique finish leather it is suitable for removing ink from all leather items including: leather sofas, chairs, car seats & interiors, handbags, shoes and clothing.
However, if your item is made from either aniline or pull-up leather, which are very prone to staining due to their structural properties and treatment in the tannery, you should use our Leather Degreaser to remove the ink stain.
Is Leather Ink Remover capable of removing all types of Ink stain on leather, even Permanent Marker?
Absolutely, our Leather Ink Remover will tackle any type of Ink on leather including: ballpoint pen/biro, fountain pen Ink, permanent marker and felt tip pen. As with all stains, the older it is the harder it gets to remove it, if your stain is over a couple of weeks old, it can still be removed, but may need more than one treatment to completely rid your item of the ink stain.
Will Leather Ink Remover damage my leather?
Leather Ink Remover is formulated to be a powerful and effective ink remover, while remaining as gentle as possible to the structure and finish of the leather itself. However, with over-zealous wiping/scraping with cotton buds or too liberal an application of the solution, the finish can, in some cases, start to come away. To avoid this, follow all instructions carefully, and keep an eye on the leather and cotton bud while treating the stain. If you observe the colour transferring onto the cotton bud, simply stop and allow the area to dry before trying again.
In cases where accidental damage has been caused to the leather or colour, you can quickly and easily repair small areas of colour loss with the use of our Complete Leather Repair Kit. Using this kit will allow you to repair any colour loss as a result of the ink removal process.
Can I clean and maintain my leather items as normal after treating an ink stain with Leather Ink Remover?
Yes, after treating the ink stain, just allow the area to dry and it can be cleaned and maintained in the same manner as it was before the ink stain occurred. We recommend applying Leather Protection Cream to the area, in order to protect from future staining, a small amount is provided in the Leather Ink Remover Kit for this purpose.
Our Leather Care Kit provides everything you need for this in one package and is perfect for cleaning and protecting all leather items.
Will there be any visible trace of the ink left once the stain is removed from the leather?
In the majority of cases the ink stain is completely removed, and no trace is left on the leather whatsoever. In some cases, where the ink has been on the leather for a long time before being treated or if it is particularly stubborn or ingrained, there can be minor traces left behind.
In this instance, you can wait for the area to dry and simply apply the Leather Ink Remover again to try and remove the remaining ink, or if the remaining stain is very faint, you also have the option of using the Complete Leather Repair Kit to match the surrounding colour of the leather and cover the residual ink stain. This will blend the area in with the rest of the leather and render it invisible.
