LEATHER NATURAL FINISH
A clear finish that protects the leather whilst maintaining its natural look and feel
- Enhances the leathers lustre
- Protects against stains, spills and scuffing
- Added wax for further softness
- Subtle coating protects from everyday use
- Moisture resistant while still breathable
Our Natural Finish soaks into the leather and creates a thin protective layer to help resist staining, spillages, scuffs and scratching. It isn’t as tough as our Leather Finish, but the main benefit is the protection it does provide is without sacrifice to the look and feel of the leather.
This makes it ideal for use on absorbent leathers and those being used for leather tooling. It dries clear so will not effect the colour of the leather.
Applying one coat will act as a resist before antiquing. You can also re-oil your piece after one coat.
If you want to seal in your design (making the leather water resistant) 2 coats should be applied.

What is the best method of application?
Apply the Natural Finish to leather using a sponge or cloth. You can also use sheep shearling but make sure to remove any loose fibres first.
Can I still re-oil the leather after using Leather Natural Finish?
Yes, you can.
Applying one coat will create a moisture resistance coating, which is still breathable, therefore allowing you to reoil the leather.
Applying 2 coats will create a water resistant coating, meaning you are unable to reoil your leather.
What is the best surface preparation before using the Natural Finish?
For Finishing (sealing in your design) you should ensure that any previous coating of dye, paint, stain, or paste have thoroughly dried. Leaving your piece for 24 hours is advised before finishing.
For resisting, you should ensure the leather is clean and dry. Leave the Natural Finish to thoroughly dry before proceeding to antiquing, it is advised to wait 24 hours for this.
What do you mean by ‘resisting’ leather?
Resisting is a term commonly used in the leathercraft community, whereby you create a very fine coating to the surface of the leather. This is done before antiquing your leather so that the Antique Paste, or Antique Stain does not darken all the leather. Creating a resist allows you to easily wipe away any excess antiquing products from the raised areas of leather, which helps create a lovely two-tone antiqued effect.
